Hi all nurses out there! Im Mon.. How are you? Do you already find a job? Are you working now in a call center? Maybe some of you are reviewing for NCLEX. I created this blog to share you my thoughts of how we RN’s are experiencing these days in searching for a job. After we passed the board exams and waiting for a couple of months to release our license, still we cannot easily find a job. Every year, thousands of graduates coming from different school are becoming jobless because unemployment. We never thought how these things are so difficult after we passed the board exams. I got my license last November 2007. That time we knew that most hospital didn’t accepting applicant because it is almost peak season of December. It is much more unfair for those people who got their license mid of December because of their surname. And also our school delayed their release of Transcript of Records, Diploma and other important credentials that we might present in applying from hospitals. You should complete all their requirements for you to file your applications. I am thinking of how do other applicants filed their application in such hospitals even without completing their requirements and having their PRC license? It is very impossible! Unless they have a friends or relatives working in that hospital that can easily process their papers. I’m referring to those big and known hospitals in the Metro. Here are some hospitals that I have visited.
Philippine Heart Center - application for nurses is still freeze hiring up to January until now!
Philippine General Hospital – I went to the DNRD office last December 2007 to get a deans form to submitted it into your school registrar office. In your deans form it includes your GWA and Rank in the class. It tooks about 2 weeks in our school just to released my deans form. In applying in PGH, you should present your license together with your resume. The HR Nurse in the DNRD ( I know she is a nurse because she dressed in white uniform) told me to come back soon by around March next year after giving the deans form. Napakatagal na nun at nakaka badtrip. Then, after 3 months of preparing and waiting to submit all of my requirements. At last they are opened and accepted new batch of applicants! One of my friends told me that PGH is now accepted applicants that was last March 21, 2008. I remembere that time there so many applicants fall- in- line beside the DNRD office. If you are late comer, you may not be able to submit your applications because each applicants are numbered respectively. After I submitted my requirements to the HR nurse, she gave me a receipt that I will be paid later in the cashier. I thought this was for my examination fee. No interview was conducted, but just they’re only need to check your requirements in all original form. And then, after paying at the cashier, I came back and gave the receipt to her and I was scheduled to take my examination on April 21, 2008.
Chinese General Hospital – I applied here last January 2008. The HR guy said that they are not accepting applicants but if I want to line up my applications, I should passed all my requirements. He also said that they only needed nurse volunteer not staff nurse. I have a friend work there as a nurse volunteer for 3 months, and after that, she did not given a chance to apply their as a staff nurse. Until know I didn’t receive any calls and txt from CGH. I realized that they are prioritized their CG graduates. L
